In his presentation, Feri pointed out that Threads, Instagram's new platform based on microblogging, exploded in 2023, but after a rapid decline in activity, its long-term role has come into question. Hungarian brands such as Telex and Magyar Telekom are already present on the platform, but advertising and monetisation opportunities are still taking shape. Threads is still a "baby" social channel, but the development of API and analytics tools has great potential.
Unlike Threads, Reddit was all about domestic and global success. This platform excels not only in interaction, but also in SEO: Reddit ranks highly in Google search results, making it an ideal platform for Hungarian brands. With its upvote/downvote system and community credibility (Karma), users feel more authentic about the content they see on Reddit. Feri pointed out that presence on Reddit is still an untapped area in Hungary, but with the rise of conversational marketing, this could change quickly.
Finally, Reddit and Threads also offer huge opportunities for Hungarian brands, be it microblogging, content sharing or community building.
